Apple Joy at the Great Yorkshire Showground

Youngsters from across the county rolled up their sleeves and got to grips with all things apple-orientated yesterday (18 October)! Around 170 primary school children came to the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate to celebrate National Apple Day with a host of activities.

On the timetable was everything from apple juicing, to learning about the different varieties, to cooking. The day was organised by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society as part of its year-round work raising awareness amongst children and young people of the role British producers play in growing our food and in caring for the countryside. The showground’s orchard provided an ideal base for the workshops.
