Comic Heroes & Apprentices Set for National Shows at Yorkshire Event Centre
Thousands of visitors are set to flock to the Yorkshire Event Centre as it gears up to host two very different national events for the first time ever.
The National Apprenticeship Show is set to see over 8,000 students and parents descend on the YEC this week when dozens of big name brands will give career talks and advice through interactive displays and seminars.
Next week, the YEC will see the construction of breath taking movie sets with cosplay characters, sci-fi heroes, vendor stalls and giant props filling the halls as well as an unbelievable live show when ULTRACON is held for one-day only.
Heather Parry, Managing Director of the YEC said: “We are delighted to host The National Apprenticeship Show and ULTRACON the following week, both coming to the YEC for the first time.
“This shows how versatile the YEC is in terms of how diverse the events are and that we can host large scale exhibitions which are both due to attract thousands of visitors from across Yorkshire and beyond.”
The National Apprenticeship Show covering Yorkshire & North East England will see employers showcase opportunities on Thursday 21st and Friday 22nd September.
Brands including Mercedes Benz, Morrisons, Amazon and PlusNet will be there alongside representatives from local authorities, accountancy and engineering firms. Firms are set to showcase apprenticeship opportunities in a fun and interactive way – the Army and Navy will even be bringing their own helicopter! Meanwhile, there will be a string of seminars held throughout both days which will include tips on CV writing.
Simon Bennie show organiser said: “While we have over 8,000 school children attending from across Yorkshire, there is still the chance to register to attend and find out more about job opportunities for school leavers. We have some big name brands attending and we are showcasing a range of career opportunities under one roof – don’t miss your chance to find out more about options out there!”
The YEC will be transformed the following week when world famous Film and TV inspired sets including Star Wars, Batman and Game of Thrones will be on display at ULTRACON on Sunday October 1st. Described as a must for sci-fi fans and families, ULTRACON is a cinematic experience, bringing film to life.
Expect house-sized prop replicas, an incredible live cosplay stage show and one of the UK's largest collections of iconic vehicles from TV and film. There will also be super heroes and iconic characters while many event visitors are also expected to get dressed up on the day.
This will be the fifth annual ULTRACON which is coming to the YEC for the first time.
Show Director, Rob Ormondroyd said: “ULTRACON continues to grow every year which is why we’ve now come to the YEC. We have a huge selection of props covering a wide range of franchises including Star Wars, Jurassic Park, Dr Who, Transformers, Marvel and DC Comics. There will also be special guest signers and many great vendors, it will be a fantastic visual experience for the whole family. We bring films to life and it’s like nothing else around!”
