Free Careers Taster Day for Schools
Explore agricultural science, skills and enterprise at this free learning day, strictly for school groups across Years 8-13, at the Great Yorkshire Events Centre, at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate.
Taking place between 10am and 3.30pm on Wednesday 7 October 2026, this new event is organised and funded by registered charity, the Yorkshire Agricultural Society.
Agritunity will inspire and educate secondary school pupils about the breadth of career options in the vastly diverse land-based sector.
The event’s content is closely linked to the national curriculum and showcases cutting-edge STEM applications in agriculture to inspire the ambitions and academic progression of pupils of all abilities.
Agritunity also supports schools in meeting the Gatsby Benchmarks for Good Career Guidance:

What to expect and why attend
Groups of 10-15 pupils will experience four timetabled interactive workshops, an industry insight talk and will have a free session to explore any particular interests further.
Workshops will be delivered by businesses and organisations working across a huge variety of land-based subjects, and they will explain the many routes into an industry which is at the cutting-edge of innovations in machinery and technology, science and engineering, and rural enterpreneurship.
Topics that will be explored at workshops include:
- Food production and supply chains
- Agricultural technology
- Environmental management
- Animal health
- Engineering
- Rural business
Due to the limited places available, schools are invited to submit an expression of interest, with one year group, or a mixed age group of the equivalent size.
