We offer free one day courses for Primary School staff associated with outdoor learning, growing and mental health. The majority of courses are held at the Great Yorkshire Showground in Harrogate with occasional courses held at other venues around Yorkshire.

Navigating Your Way Around Maps & Compasses - 26th March 2019
Suitable for KS2
Discover exciting new skills to teach your class this practical element of the national curriculum in the outdoors. You will cover where direction comes from; navigation activities using a compass; exploring the world of symbols and signs; reading maps and creating sketch maps. Finishing with how you can bring this learning to life using orienteering at school.
Introduction to Forest Schools - 27th March 2019

Suitable for KS1 & KS2
Learn about the Forest School approach to learning and gain some practical, adaptable ideas by spending a day in a woodland setting with a Forest School Association Endorsed Forest School Trainer.
Forest School Fun! A Taster Session - 2nd April 2019
Suitable for EYFS, KS1, KS2
This course introduces the concept and principles of Forest School. Explore the learning opportunities and experience taster activities such as den-building, using ropes and building a campfire. It is an ideal introduction to those considering undertaking formal Forest School training.
The John Muir Award in Schools - 3rd April 2019
Suitable for Upper KS2 & above
Learn how to use the framework of this nationally recognised environmental Award to celebrate the achievements of your learners in the outdoors. The John Muir Award is an environmental award scheme focused on wild places. It supports people to connect with, enjoy and care for nature, landscape, and the natural environment. It’s non-competitive, inclusive, accessible and is free to use.
