Farming Awards
While each section of the Great Yorkshire Show has its own Supreme Champion and Reserve, there are several Yorkshire Agricultural Society awards that are presented to reward excellence.
Tye Trophy
A prestigious award that recognises conservation and environmental improvements in commercially successful farms. The competition is judged through the North of England and the winner of the Tye Trophy will be entered into the national Silver Lapwing Award.
Best Student Awards
We recognise that to have a competitive world-class agricultural industry we need talented, well trained and enthusiastic people to join the industry. For this reason, the Society awards a medal to celebrate the best students in agriculture at our northern colleges and universities.
Long Service Awards
These awards are aimed at people who have 35 continuous years’ service for one employer, who is a member of the YAS. These awards are given to commercial farms or horticultural workers, woodmen, gamekeepers or estate workers, who are employees of members of YAS.
RABI Award
Yorkshire Agricultural Society and the Royal Agricultural Benevolent Institution (RABI) make an award to an individual who has made an outstanding contribution to the farming and rural community in Yorkshire over many years. This lifetime achievement award acknowledges those individuals who have given years of service to farming and rural life, either in their professional life or voluntarily and often both. If you would like to nominate someone for this award please contact us
Yorkshire Agricultural Society Awards
Society awards are given to recognise many years of dedicated service by stewards to the Great Yorkshire Show. Volunteer stewards and supporters, whose professionalism and friendliness are one of the cornerstones of the success of the Great Yorkshire Show. These awards show our appreciation to thank them for their contributions as the success of the Great Yorkshire Show and the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, is truly a team effort.
