Future Farmers Mentorship Scheme 2026

Future Farmers is now accepting applications from prospective mentees and mentors across the North of England to take part in the next round of its Mentorship Scheme.
Now in its third year, applications for the Scheme are open until 29 May 2026.
The Future Farmers of Yorkshire Mentorship Scheme is designed to connect experienced farmers and industry professionals with those looking to develop their skills, confidence, and business potential.
Whether you’re just starting out or looking to take your farm to the next level, this programme offers valuable support tailored to your journey.
The programme runs for 12 months with flexibility that is mentee-led. Meetings between mentees and mentors can be in-person or virtual.
How it works
This one-year mentorship programme pairs mentees with mentors who can offer guidance, share experience and provide a sounding board for ideas and challenges.
The structure is intentionally flexible – the level of involvement, meeting frequency and focus areas are led by the mentee to ensure the experience meets their individual goals.
Mentorship can cover a wide range of topics, including:
- Farm business management and growth
- Diversification and innovation
- Succession planning
- Sustainability and environmental practices
- Personal development and leadership
Who can apply?
We welcome applications from both:
Mentees
Farmers, new entrants or those working in agriculture who are looking to develop their business, skills or confidence. This is your opportunity to:
- Gain practical insights from experienced professionals
- Build confidence in decision-making
- Develop your business with tailored support
- Expand your network within the Yorkshire farming community
Mentors
Experienced farmers and industry professionals who are passionate about supporting others and sharing their knowledge. The experience is a chance to:
- Give back to the farming community
- Support the next generation of farmers
- Share your experience and knowledge
- Develop your own leadership and communication skills

Successful applicants will be notified by 5 June 2026, with the programme launching at the Great Yorkshire Show on Wednesday 15 July 2026.
