Farmers invited to find out about hosting work experience

Farmers who would be interested in hosting work placement students on their farms are invited to a fact-finding evening on Tuesday 16th January 2024.

The Yorkshire Agricultural Society‘s Yorkshire Rural Support Network has teamed up with Askham Bryan College to hold the event by kind permission of Helen Rhodes at New Hall Farm Ltd, The Mill, New Hall Farm, Ardsley, S71 5EZ.

Twenty places are available. There is no cost to attend.

The session starts at 6.30pm and will include a short series of talks followed by refreshments and networking.

Members of the Askham Bryan College team will talk about the opportunities they have to partner with farm businesses for work experience placements, and how these placements are managed and supported.

Ruthie Peterson from The Institute of Agriculture and Horticulture (TIAH) will also be sharing a new Work Experience Toolkit resource which has been designed to assist farmers appoint the right student for their business.

Insights will also be shared about the risk assessment process and insurance considerations.
