As seen on the One show!
We recently met with the faces behind an exciting organisation who have similar aims to ourselves, called Rethink Food. This is what they had to say:
“Our mission is to improve health and wellbeing outcomes for children, young people and communities by changing the way we think about food whilst also working to the UN’s Sustainable Development Goals.”
They are based in Yorkshire and offer the following two programmes for schools:
Rethink Food Education
Working with schools to remove hunger as a barrier to learning and also to educate children about food. Partner schools receive a weekly delivery of food (surplus food from a range of supermarkets and wholesalers), access to an education resource, school assemblies, pupil workshops and staff training opportunities. Children are encouraged to eat to save the planet.
Rethink Food Futures
Introduces an alternative method of food production, and at the heart of this food programme is a Tower Garden which enables schools, to grow food year-round using innovative aeroponic techniques. Participants begin their journey as scientists before becoming farmers, then chefs and eventually consumers.
