What you can expect from our Supper On Us events

Isabel Spurway, Charitable Activities Network Coordinator at the Yorkshire Agricultural Society explains more about what our Supper On Us initiative is all about.

These get-togethers are really informal. There won’t be any presentations or long speeches, it’s simply about giving members of the farming community a good excuse to leave the farm for a few hours one evening to catch up with friends over a hearty supper.

There is rarely a perfect time to invite people off the farm, but if you can spare an hour or two, we would love to see you at one of our suppers.

If you do fancy joining us, please give some thought to who you know who might also appreciate coming along, particularly if things have been a struggle for them lately. It’s amazing what a chat can do to lift the spirits sometimes.

Support is only ever a phone call away

The Yorkshire Agricultural Society is committed to organising events and activities that bring the farming community together as we know that getting off-farm can be a real boost and offer a fresh perspective.

The industry’s farming charities do so much too, so if you are ever feeling low or just need to talk to someone, a wealth of free helplines are available in addition to sources of professional counselling, financial support and practical help that can make a real difference.

Please find below some useful helpline numbers. If you have any questions about our forthcoming supper or would like more information about the Yorkshire Rural Support Network, get in touch by emailing yrsn@yas.co.uk
