Farmers and members of farming families are invited to get off-farm and enjoy a supper at a series of informal, social get-togethers organised by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society.
The next in our series of ‘Supper On Us!’ events are being held by the Society’s Yorkshire Rural Support Network and supported by the Yorkshire Federation of Young Farmers’ Clubs.
We hope these occasions serve as a reminder of the power of community amid ongoing challenges for farming families.
The following get-togethers are free (entry and supper) but please register your place in advance for catering purposes, as well as the places for any friends, colleagues or family members you will be bringing along.
You are welcome to join us from 6.30pm before supper is served at 7pm.
You do not need to be a member of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society to come along.
Bookings – Please click on a flyers or buttons below for a short registration form to reserve your place.
Informal and friendly
Isabel Spurway, Charitable Activities Network Coordinator at the Yorkshire Agricultural Society explains the spirit of the occasions:
These get-togethers are really informal. Just like the Supper On Us events we ran earlier in the year, there won’t be any presentations or long speeches, it’s simply about giving members of the farming community a good excuse to leave the farm for a few hours one evening to catch up with friends over a hearty supper.
There is rarely a perfect time to invite people off the farm, but if you can spare an hour or two, we would love to see you at one of our suppers this month.
If you do fancy joining us, please give some thought to who you know who might also appreciate coming along, particularly if things have been a struggle for them lately. It’s amazing what a chat can do to lift the spirits sometimes.
Isabel added:
Wellbeing in the community continues to be a real concern. It is so important that we continue to look out for each other and share avenues of practical, emotional and financial support which exist to get people through times like these.
Support is only ever a phone call away
The industry’s farming charities do so much, providing vital helplines, offering professional counselling, financial support and practical help that can make a difference.
