Support and social events during October 2019

We were very thankful to finish harvest earlier this month which has been the focus of our efforts at home. We are now busy drilling up for next year, looking after sheep and cattle, keeping on top of our administration and preparing for the winter months. While working on the family farm, I also run the Yorkshire Rural Support Network – part of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society. The YRSN exists to support the farming community, to help bring people together and to organize practical events where guest speakers can advise and inform. Here’s just some of the events coming up!
Next month will be our Women In Farming annual conference held at the Pavilions of Harrogate on Tuesday October 15. This will be a day to forget politics and hear from five inspirational speakers who are ‘keeping calm and carrying on’ in true Yorkshire style. The day will run from 10am and will start a guest talk from John Pinches who is Barclays Regional Agricultural Director for North East, Yorkshire and Scottish Borders. We will hear from Becky Waring, Owner of Cherry View Milk near Beverley; there will then be a talk from Emma Mosey, Co-owner of Minskip Farm Shop near Boroughbridge; Sophie Throup, Head of Senior Corporate Affairs (Agriculture) at Morrisons will also speak and the event will be rounded off with a talk by Faith Douglas, Part-time Curator at Thorp Perrow Arboretum and owner of Forest Bathing UK.
There will be a Q & A Session, lunch and an opportunity to network as well as a hamper raffle to raise money for the RABI. A warm welcome is extended to anyone with an interest in or connection with food, farming and the countryside. The event costs £15/head and runs from 10am to 2.30pm. Hamper raffle for RABI.
