High-tech solutions to farming’s big challenges will take centre stage at the 167th Great Yorkshire Show, in a new hydrogen-powered Agri-Innovation Village.
With energy security, climate volatility and farming profitability among the era-defining challenges for today’s farm businesses, the Agri-Innovation Village will showcase the digital and technological advances that can help the industry become more resilient.
Hosted by the Society’s Farmer Scientist Network and sponsored by the York and North Yorkshire Combined Authority and Greene Tree, visitors are invited to drop in to the Agri-Innovation Village throughout this year’s Great Yorkshire Show, which takes place on Tuesday 14 – Friday 17 July.
Tickets to the Great Yorkshire Show are on sale now and are available to purchase in advance only, with prices frozen at the same rate as last year.

Hydrogen fuel has the potential to transform sustainable farming. By using renewable energy for electrolysis, farms can produce green ammonia for fertiliser and use hydrogen fuel cells for tractors and equipment, reducing reliance on fossil fuels.
While the technology is in its infancy, the Agri-Innovation Village will demonstrate what is possible, with the area’s electricity generated by a hydrogen unit supplied by TCP Group.

The Agri-Innovation Village will have displays and demonstrations bringing the latest research and technology to the Show, including hydrogen-powered vehicles from Energy Oasis.
Other features include:
- CatchmentAI’s Probcast app serves up the best weather windows for farming tasks, while Bennamann’s modular bio-CNG refuelling station turns biogas made on farms into vehicle fuel for methane-powered tractors.
- An Energy Futures display featuring Toyota’s British-built hydrogen fuel cell powered Hilux prototype pick up, being showcased at an agricultural show in the UK for the first time.
- The MY Group and Wormganix Ltd, demoing Black Soldier Fly breeds which are farmed as alternative protein sources for aquaculture, pork and poultry feed.
- University of Leeds Soil Doctor, where farmers can bring a soil sample (the size of a coffee cup, dug from 0–10 cm depth) for expert analysis on the health of the soil on their farm.
- Greene Tree Ltd’s hybrid renewable solutions, specialising in an Archimedes Wind Turbine and including solar panel and battery storage hybrid configurations.
A series of talks will explore the future of farming – see the full timetable here – and innovative solutions will be celebrated when the GYS Innovation Awards are presented on Tuesday at 2pm.
The Agri-Innovation Village builds on the Great Yorkshire Show’s previous Innovation Zone and has been relocated alongside the Show’s live machinery demo ring, where some of the machines displayed in the Agri-Innovation Village will be demoed with commentary for visitors.
The area will host summer socials with the Farmer Scientist Network on Tuesday at 4pm and the Women In Farming Network on Thursday at 3pm to bring members of the farming community together.

A limited number of farmer tickets are available for the 2026 Great Yorkshire Show, offering those who work on-farm extra flexibility to attend. These tickets are strictly for purchase by the farming community only and can be used to access any day of the Show.
An approved form of ID is required when purchasing and to show upon entry. Farmer ticket prices have also been held at the same rate as last year: Adults £27.50, Children £10 and Families £65. Farmer tickets can be purchased online here or in person, subject to availability, at select farming outlets (see the website for details).
Free shuttle buses are operated by The Harrogate Bus Company every day of the Great Yorkshire Show. The buses run every 10 minutes from Harrogate Bus Station (next to the Railway Station) to the Showground’s White Gate, starting at 7.20am. The last bus departs the Showground at 7pm.
