Two Bursaries Available for Farmers
Are you looking to strengthen your knowledge of sustainable farming and future-proof your farm business?
We are offering two bursary places for farmers to undertake the Certificate in Sustainable Land Management, delivered by the Allerton Project.
This nationally recognised course combines online and in-person learning and is designed specifically for farmers seeking practical knowledge and skills in sustainable land management, environmental delivery, and resilient farm business management.
Course Dates
Online Sessions – JAN/FEB 2027
- Monday 11 January 2027 (half day)
- Friday 12 January 2027 (half day)
In-Person Sessions
- Tuesday 19 January 2027
- Wednesday 20 January 2027
- Thursday 21 January 2027
- Friday 22 January 2027
Online Examinations
- 4 and 5 February 2027
What the Bursary Includes
Each successful applicant will receive:
- 80% funding towards the £1,290 course fee
- Accommodation support at the Allerton Project’s on-site accommodation, currently advertised at £75 per night
- £150 contribution towards travel and mileage costs
Participant Contribution
Successful applicants will be required to contribute £258 towards the course fee (20% of the total course cost).
Places will only be confirmed once this contribution has been received.
Who Can Apply?
Applicants must:
- Be actively involved in a farming business.
- Be able to attend all course and examination dates.
- Demonstrate how the learning will benefit their farm business and support sustainable land management practices.
How to Apply
Applicants will be asked to complete a short application form outlining:
- Their farming business and role.
- Why they wish to undertake the course.
- How they plan to apply the learning within their business.
- The sustainable land management challenges they are currently facing.

Applications will be assessed based on:
- Commitment to professional development.
- Potential impact on the farm business.
- Relevance to sustainable land management objectives.
- Ability to apply learning in practice.
Successful applicants will be contacted directly and invited to confirm their place and submit their participant contribution.

Successful applicants will be notified by Friday 11 December and will be required to pay their £258 course contribution by Friday 18 December to secure their place.
