Join the Farmer-Scientist Network for a farm ‘walk and talk’ to explore regenerative approaches to agriculture.

This informative farm walk is hosted by livestock and arable farmer, Mike Powley and family, based at Oak House Farm in Green Hammerton (Mike pictured above, Mike’s father Tom, and Finley the dog pictured below).

First-hand insights

Mike, who was one of the speakers at our Regeneration Agriculture event earlier this year, has kindly agreed to give other farmers a first-hand look at how new approaches are making a positive impact on his family’s farm to improve labour efficiency and environmental sustainability.

Areas of focus will also include the use of different cropping and cultivation techniques to improve the soil structure and health of his arable ground.

When and where

The farm walk will take place on Wednesday 30th November at 10.15am, with a meeting point at The Anchor Inn, Whixley, YO26 8AG where the group will then make their way to the farm.

Following the farm walk, complimentary lunch will be provided at The Anchor Inn, where we will welcome Professor Jonathan Leake, Plant-Soil Interactions Specialist at The University of Sheffield.

Prof Leake will share findings from the University’s recent herbal leys project and how these successful outcomes can be replicated on-farm.
