‘It feels particularly poignant to want to ensure the upcoming generation has ample opportunity’ – Paige Puttick

In our latest blog post, Paige Puttick introduces herself as a new member of the Future Farmers Management Board.

Alongside four other new recruits, I am delighted to have recently been appointed to the Future Farmers of Yorkshire‘s Management Board for the coming three years.

With over ten years of experience in Agricultural Marketing, currently working as a Marketing & Partnerships Manager at Agriconnect who own the Farmers Guardian publication and produce industry events such as LAMMA and the British Farming Awards.

A great opportunity at a key time

Joining the board at this time felt like a great opportunity to give back to an organisation and community that has provided me with a number of opportunities to grow in my abilities and network within this close sector; for which I am certain have helped me progress in my career.

I hope to use my experience to accelerate the group’s membership growth plans and host further events for its members.

It feels particularly poignant to want to ensure the upcoming generation has ample opportunity, as the agricultural sector seeks to address a broad lack of awareness of the attributes that our industry has to offer.

Future Farmers has over 1,000 forward thinking members, from across all sectors of the industry, who have joined together following a demand to actively seek new opportunities to excel their careers and businesses.

Looking ahead to 2025

To ensure its members’ voices are at the forefront of the action, in the New Year we are delighted to be able to be send four farmers to the Oxford Farming Conferences, courtesy of Future Farmers bursary places.

The bursary fund will also offer places at the future-proofing Groundswell Festival in June 2025.

Throughout the coming year, Future Farmers will be hosting a number of skills training courses which will be on offer to all in the farming community at highly accessible prices.

Among them will be a dedicated two-date training programme at the Great Yorkshire Showground to offer guidance around applying for a farm tenancy.

We also look forward to welcoming all with a stake in British agriculture along to our headline events, including our Spring and Autumn Debates, Great Yorkshire Show Breakfast Meeting on the morning of Wednesday 9th July, and our rescheduled Harvest Dinner Dance.

Everyone in farming and its allied industries is welcome to get involved with our activities and join us as members, free and without any obligations. Our events are open to all – there are no boundaries in terms of sector, experience or age.

Take a look at yas.co.uk/futurefarmers for more details where you can sign up to join us and receive all our latest news.

The group is funded and supported by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society and is open to everyone within the industry.

Members are from a range of sectors and enterprise sizes, with a mix of tenants, owner-occupiers, managers and employees.
