The Yorkshire Agricultural Society’s Harvest Thanksgiving Service will this year be held at St Mary’s Church, Masham on Sunday 2 October at 10.45am.
We are delighted that The Very Revd John Dobson, Dean of Ripon Cathedral, has agreed to be our preacher for the service. Members of the Society will join the parishioners of St Mary’s to celebrate the fruitfulness of the land and the skill of our farmers.
Simon Theakston, President of the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, is a member of the family that has played a major part in the life of Masham since the Theakston brewing company was founded by his great-great grandfather in 1827.
During the service, to mark the link this year between the Society and the town, one of the Society’s Future Farmers will present a cask of beer as part of the offering of Harvest symbols during the service.
All members are warmly invited to join us for this celebration, and to enjoy the setting, in the heart of the Dales, of this year’s Yorkshire Harvest. There is ample parking in the Market Square.
Following the Harvest Thanksgiving Service, you are welcome to join us for lunch at Masham Town Hall where a two-course Sunday lunch will be served at a cost of £30 per head for adults and £13 for children (5-11, under 5’s free).
To attend the service and/or lunch, please contact Jayne Dyer at YAS on 01423 546201 or email: jayned@yas.co.uk
