Discovery Zone

The educational team at the Yorkshire Agricultural Society is busy beavering away to produce an exciting, fun and educational area at this year’s Great Yorkshire Show 9 – 11 July 2019 to celebrate all things Farming, Food, and the Countryside. The Discovery Zone at The Great Yorkshire show 2019 is aimed to provide entertainment and activities for 2-11yr olds.

School Farming Agricultural Activities

Springtime Live organised by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society

As with previous year’s the Discovery Zone and lawn will provide a wealth of activities from learning about recycling with North Yorkshire Rotters to remote control driving of model farm equipment with Imagineering.

Introducing Gen Z, new for 2019. An area located next to the Discovery Zone created, especially for teenagers. Once inside the Gen Z marquee come and delight at learning the art of delivering a calf with Vets from Channel 5’s The Yorkshire Vet on our realistic model cow, or drill down with local agronomists Frontier to see what delights are held within the showground’s soil! Speak to the experts about their different career roles in the farming and related industries and how you can find out more.

For a full list of activities and entertainment that can found inside and outside the Discovery Zone.

Hot Spot maps will be available in the Discovery Zone if you don’t want to leave your learning experience there! Be guided around to show to all of the hidden treasures from around the showground – experience world-class shearers go head to head in the Sheep area, watch real dairy cows being milked at the Lely cattle shed by the state of the art robotic milker and be fascinated by the giant tractors in the Agri-machinery area.
