Emerging agricultural policies are unpicked and discussed with Defra social researcher Thomas Smith in an exclusive two-part audio series.

Hosted by the Yorkshire Food Farming and Rural Network, Defra’s link network with Yorkshire and a group supported by the Yorkshire Agricultural Society, you can listen to discussion below.

In the first clip, Thomas explains what the new agricultural policies look like. A short and concise run-through, it is a useful starting point for getting up to speed with the headline changes to farming support that are taking place during the post- EU exit Agricultural Transition Period.

During part two, members of the Network put their questions and observations to Thomas during a lively debate.

The conversation, originally held by video call in the run up to the 2021 Great Yorkshire Show, is chaired by network chair Madge Moore.
