Yorkshire Rural Support Network has been organising free health checks (in collaboration with funders) for farming family members, throughout Yorkshire, for the last ten years.
We know that farmers are the last to seek help from a doctor, so qualified nursing professionals carry out a basic MOT, including blood pressure, blood sugars and cholesterol, at auction marts and machinery shows.
The informal drop-in is also an opportunity to talk about any other health worries in confidence, including smoking, diet, alcohol, drugs or mental health. They also provide access to the Farming Help Charities.
