Applications open for Future Farmers new Development Token Scheme

Future Farmers of Yorkshire has opened applications for a new Development Token Scheme, giving members greater flexibility when pursuing professional development opportunities across the agricultural sector.

As farming continues to evolve in response to changing technologies, environmental priorities, and business pressures, our bursary and training programme has been updated to better support members in accessing relevant knowledge and skills.

How does it work?

Members are invited to apply for a Development Token worth up to £200, which can be used towards the cost of attending a farming conference, training course or other professional development opportunity of their choosing.

The aim is to empower our members to seek out learning opportunities that best suit their individual interests, farm businesses and career paths.

Applications are reviewed three times throughout the year through a competitive selection process.

The deadlines for applications are:

  • 4 May 2026
  • 4 August 2026
  • 3 November 2026

Applications will be reviewed approximately one week after each closing date, with applicants notified of the outcome during the following week.

Development Tokens must be used for training or events taking place within one year of the application being submitted. Retrospective applications will not be accepted.

Once a Development Token has been awarded and the training opportunity agreed, the funding will be paid following confirmation of attendance.

Bursary places are still available

Our new scheme expands the range of opportunities available to members, but we are continuing to offer dedicated bursaries for several key agricultural events that many of our members will have become accustomed to seeing us offer.

These include:

To apply for bursaries to attend Groundswell and the Oxford farming conferences, please email us at futurefarmers@yas.co.uk by the advertised application deadlines above, explaining: why you wish to attend, what you hope to learn and how you hope it will impact your personal and professional development.

Testimonials from previous recipients are available by visiting the ‘Bursary Testimonals’ section of our webpage.

Prompts to encourage our members to apply for all of these opportunities are shared in our Members newsletters, on our social media channels and in our WhatsApp community.
