Breakfast Meeting Line Up

Baroness Minette Batters

Baroness Minette Batters was the first woman to be elected President of the National Farmers’ Union in 113 years.

She has represented the interests of over 46,000 farming businesses across England and Wales through unprecedented times, navigating the challenges of Brexit, Covid 19 and the war in Ukraine.

During this time, she worked with four Prime Ministers – three of them in one year – and six Defra Secretaries of State. She stood down from the post in February 2024.

Campaigning about the importance of British food and farming and its ability to achieve Net Zero has been a key driver for Minette.

In 2020 she led the NFU on one of the most successful campaigns ever seen, bringing together a coalition of chefs, including Jamie Oliver, farmers, environmentalists, consumer groups and animal welfare experts – resulting in over one million people signing the NFU food standards petition.

Minette also co-founded Ladies in Beef and the Great British Beef Week.

Minette is mother to twins and is a tenant farmer, on the Longford Estate near Salisbury, Wiltshire. She began farming in 1998 having sold her house and negotiated the farm business tenancy, starting with 15 beef cows. Today the farm has a Spring and Autumn calving Aberdeen Angus beef herd, arable crops and a few sheep.

The business is widely diversified, with a wedding and events venue in a 17th century tithe barn, holiday cottages, and winter grazing for polo ponies, alongside a recently restored walled garden growing native British flowers.

In 2021, Minette was made a Deputy Lieutenant to Her Majesty Queen Elizabeth, and in July 2024 she was made a Crossbench Peer in the House of Lords.

Robbie Moore, farmer, MP and Shadow Farming and Rural Affairs Minister

Robbie Moore MP is the Shadow Farming and Rural Affairs Minister as well as the Conservative Member of Parliament for Keighley and Ilkley.

He grew up on his family’s arable farm in Lincolnshire, where they still farm today.

After graduating from university he spent 12 years working as a land agent and rural practice surveyor, which included starting his own consultancy business, before being elected as Keighley and Ilkley’s MP in 2019. He was also heavily involved in his own family farming business.

In 2016, Robbie completed a Nuffield Farming Scholarship which focused on the implications of short-term land tenure and agriculture.

Robbie served as a DEFRA minister under the last Government from November 2023 up to the last general election.

Tom Richardson, Commercial Director of Warrendale Wagyu

Tom hails from East Yorkshire and was brought up on a mixed farm before studying a BSc Agri-Food at Harper Adams University.

Tom spent 10 years with Waitrose supermarkets as a buyer across various fresh food departments and then three years in Australia with Coles, looking after their beef and lamb business across Australia, before returning to the UK where he spent 18 months with Morrisons.

He went on to set up Agri-Food, a consulting business, working for various agricultural and food businesses in Yorkshire.

Tom joined Warrendale Wagyu when it was formed in 2017, initially as a consultant before becoming a full-time member of the team in 2022.

His role spans wagyu and poultry with a focus on developing markets and customer relationships.

Away from work, Tom, a father-of-three, enjoys sports, coaches mini rugby and occasionally runs marathons.
