Support update – Yorkshire Agricultural Society

The Yorkshire Agricultural Society, as a farming charity, continuously works to offer relevant support to the farming community. We are very much aware of the anxiety and concern farming businesses and farming families are currently experiencing.

Following the recent Budget announcements, we are monitoring the situation closely and are in touch with trusted industry partners to offer the most appropriate and effective support. We will share updates on any specific support in due course.

Bringing people together

In the meantime, our upcoming events, this month and in December provide useful occasions to bring those in farming together and feel the weight of support this industry has as a community.

These occasions include our Supper On Us social event at The Coniston Hotel, Skipton on Monday 11th November and our Future Farmers of Yorkshire network’s Autumn Debate on Thursday 14th November at Farmer Copleys, Pontefract.

We are also supporting a series of farm demo days with the Precision Agriculture Special Interest Group at locations across Yorkshire on 19th-21st November.

We have teamed up with RABI to offer free farming-focused mental health training at Holmfirth Auction Market on 2nd December.

Details will also be shared shortly about a visit of our Yorkshire Farmers Club to Wensleydale Creamery in December, and a Christmas social organised by our Women In Farming Network.

Everyone is welcome

All in farming are welcome at our events, invitations we extend in the spirit of friendship, support and unity.

If you are feeling anxious or concerned about anything effecting you, your family or your farm business, please do not hesitate to seek the support of others.

This industry is fortunate to have dedicated support charities who offer invaluable sources of help – whether it be practical, financial, medical and emotional support.

Whatever you are going through, there are highly trained people who will listen and support you.

Useful helplines, open every day of the year, include: The Farming Community Network on 03000 111 999 (7am-11pm), RABI (0800 188 4444, open 24 hours), Samaritans (116 123, open 24 hours) and Addington Fund (01926 620135, weekdays 9am-5pm).
